CATHERINE S. SMITH

Catherine S. Smith, 91, passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Catherine was born in Wayne County Aug. 13, 1922, to the late Wayne Franklin Smith and Catherine Vail Smith. She was married to the late Ralph Harris Smith Sr., who preceded her in death Dec. 26, 2003.
For almost 80 years, Catherine was a member of First Baptist Church, and served as a deacon.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church, followed by a service celebrating Catherine's life at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary, with Dr. Glenn Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Clarkie S. Perkins and husband, Berky, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Catherine Winstead and husband, Gregory, of Nashville, Carol Alton and husband, Brent, of Greensboro, Connie Skinner and husband, Scott, of Spring Hope, Jennifer Howell and husband, Eric, of Goldsboro, Jessy Seabrooks and husband, Alex, of Goldsboro, Tammy Smith Wallace and husband, Terry, of Fremont and Courtney Smith of Pikeville; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Bunny Smith Modlin of Goldsboro.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ralph Harris "Pete" Smith, Jr., and a daughter, Catherine Louise "Kaye" Smith Thompson.
