WARSAW -- Alvester Best, 87, 2413 N.C. 24 West, died Thursday at Carolina East Hospice Center.
Funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Prayer of Faith Church in Warsaw, with pastor Churchill Thomas as eulogist. Burial will be in Faison Community Cemetery.
Born in Sampson County, he was the son of the late Howard and Easter Hargrove Best, and husband of Edith Stallings Best.
He is survived by 14 children.
Visitation will be Wednesday at Macedonia United Holy Church in Beulaville from 6 to 8 p.m. A wake, with the family present, will be from 7 to 8 p.m.
Arrangements are by Garris Funeral Home.
