MOUNT OLIVE -- Maylon McKinley Weeks, 76, passed away unexpectedly Saturday night, July 13.

Services to remember him and his life will be held Tuesday, July 16, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Doug Bartlett, and followed by visitation.

The committal service will be Wednesday, July 17, at 10 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Family and friends are also being received at the residence.

Mr. Weeks, a member of Mount Olive Lion's Club and Mount Olive Presbyterian Church, was retired with Mount Olive Fire Department, having been its first paid fireman.

He was a long-time loyal employee of the public works department of the town of Mount Olive, having recently been recognized for 51 years of service.

For the last several years, he had been the town's director of special projects.

Preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jones Weeks, and his parents, Jesse and Mamie Ezzell Weeks, he is survived by his three sons, Carlton Weeks and wife, Carol, Terry Weeks and wife, Dawn, and Eddie Weeks and fiancé, Theresa Williams, all of Mount Olive; a brother, Gerald Weeks of Zebulon; a special friend, Joyce Newcomb of Dudley; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Olive Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 158, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365, or North Carolina Lions Inc., P.O. Box 39, Sherrills Ford, N.C., 28673.
