W.O. 'PAT' PATRICK

LITITZ, Pa. -- Willard O. Patrick, 85, Lititz, Pa., formerly of North Wilkesboro, N.C., passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013, in the home of his daughter and son-in-law surrounded by his family.

He was the husband of Zella Gay. Wingler Patrick, with whom he shared 63 years this past Jan. 1.

Born in Union Township, N.C., he was the son of the late Joe Herman and Alzeria Perry Patrick, and the eldest of 10 children.

Willard was a member of the school board of Wayne County, N.C., and was very involved in new school construction.

He had also been very instrumental in the development of the poultry industry in North Carolina.

In both his time in the school construction and the poultry business, he received many awards and honors for his service.

He was a very active member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church in North Carolina.

A veteran of World War II, Willard served as a corporal with the United States Army.

He was a man with a great sense of humor, a kind person with a smile always on his face.

In addition to his wife, Zella, he is survived by his children, Gail P. Marsh of Corpus Christi, Texas, Mary Sue (Stephen) Fannin of Lititz and Willard Mike (Cody) Patrick of Erwin, N.C.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, William Lee Patrick.

A private memorial gathering will be held in the home, officiated by the Rev. Glenn Beard.
