LILLIE BEATRICE BELL JOHNSON

Elder Lillie Beatrice Bell Johnson was born Oct. 15, 1919, to the late Allen and Lucy Bell. She was a lifelong resident of Wayne County, and passed into eternity April 5, 2013.

Elder Johnson was married Oct. 10, 1936, to the late elder Norman E. Johnson Sr., and to this union were born nine children.

She was ordained an elder in the Southern District Convocation of United Holy Church of America, and served as pastor of St. Mary's United Holy Church in Kenansville and Macedonia United Holy Church in Beaulaville.

Elder Johnson retired from O'Berry Center in Goldsboro May 30, 1986, as an environmental services supervisor with more than 17 years of service.

Elder Johnson was a faithful member of St. Delight United Holy Church, and supported the ministry of several local churches.

Elder Johnson leaves to celebrate her legacy her children, Nan Holland of the home, caregiver, James Johnson, Margaret Raine, Joseph Johnson, elder Charles Johnson, Gilbert Johnson, the Rev. Gloria Walker and the Rev. Doris Funchess; 24 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Martha Savage; a brother, elder Willie Bell; and an abundance of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held at Hamilton Funeral Home from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday. The family and friends will unite for an inspirational wake at Love Temple, 201 N. Oak Forest Road, Goldsboro, Friday from 6 to 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Love Temple.
