JACOB EDWARD BECKWORTH JR.

PRINCETON -- Jacob Edward Beckworth Jr., 66, passed away suddenly Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at his home.
Jacob was born in Wayne County Nov. 19, 1945, to Charlotte Odom Beckworth of Goldsboro and the late Jacob E. Beckworth Sr.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals, including the Bronze Star, the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
Jacob was a member of American Legion Post 11 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
For more than 20 years, he worked as a superintendent for Haren Construction Co. in Etowah, Tenn., a company that builds water treatment plants.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lewis Forsythe and chaplain Boyd officiating. Interment will be Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at 1 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with military honors.
In addition to his mother, Jacob is survived by his daughters, Patti Wiggs and Crystal Beckworth both of Goldsboro; his brother, Jim Mercer and wife, Bobbi, of Oklahoma; his sister, Ann Rangel of San Antonio, Texas; and his grandchildren, Morgan Wiggs, Ethan Wiggs, Madison Overby, Mason Overby and Dawson Overby.
He is also survived by a dear friend, Barbara Miller, and his beloved companions, Scooter, Pepper and Tom.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Beckworth.
The family will receive friends Thursday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home.
