Edward Paul Parnell, 86, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, Sept. 29, 2012, at the home of his daughter in Pikeville.
Funeral services for Edward Paul Parnell will be held today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Frasher officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with fireman honors.
Mr. Parnell is survived by his daughter, Judy Parnell Whitley of Pikeville; his son, Kenneth Parnell of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Lynn and Robby Jackson, Cindy Jackson-Baker, Melissa Sugg, Kenni Hilburn, Brad Hinnant and Jennifer Boatright; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Parnell is also survived by a special brother-in-law, Harold Woodard, who gave him special love and care during his illness.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 641/2 years, Jessie Woodard Parnell Jan. 24, 2010; his daughter, Brenda Hinnant; a son-in-law, Earl Whitley; his brother, Donald Parnell; and his sister, Ruth Parnell.
Flowers are welcome, though memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 1715 Royall Ave., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
