STANTONSBURG -- Carson Lee Shingleton, 87, Stantonsburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012.
Funeral will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Mount Nelson Baptist Church in Eureka, with visiting to follow. Interment will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Stantonsburg Cemetery.
He was the son of Sam Robert and Mary Shirley Shingleton, and was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Vick, last week.
He had served in Japan while in the Army, and was a member of the American Legion in Snow Hill.
Surviving are his daughter, Carol Grant Hill of New Bern; grandson, Stanley Hill (Sherri) and their daughters, Kristin, Katy and Kelly, all of Cary; stepdaughter, Deborah Burke of Roxboro; stepgrandsons, R.K. and Charles Burke (Kaylan) of Roxboro; and stepgreat-grandson, Charlie Burke.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Mount Nelson Baptist Church, P.O. Box 3239, Eureka, N.C., 27830.
