Heather Lynn Weir, 12, departed this life Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville due to injuries sustained in an accident.
Celebration of Heather's life will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
Heather was born in Montgomery, Ala. on Dec. 22, 1999. She attended the Lord's Table and sang in the choir. Heather was a rising seventh grader at Eastern Wayne Middle School.
She is survived by her loving father and mother, Jason and Denise Long Weir; her sister, Amanda Weir of the home; paternal grandparents, Jackie Allen and Joy Annette Weir of Hilton Head, S.C.; maternal grandmother, Linda Fay Long of Jackson, Tenn.; aunts and uncles, LeAnn and Stephen Brewer of Hilton Head, S.C., Vicki Nixon and Brian of Florida, Terri Meraglio and David of Michigan; and several cousins.
Heather was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Jimmy Joe Long.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro and other times at the residence.
