SEVEN SPRINGS -- Michael R. "Mike" Dawson, 64, Seven Springs, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012.
Mike was born Jan. 17, 1948, in Wayne County to the late Roger Ralph and Geneva Griffin Dawson.
He was a member of Seven Springs United Methodist Church, and served his country with the United States Army.
Mike attended business school in Raleigh before beginning a career of 38 years with the Wayne County ABC.
He appreciated antiques and enjoyed collecting.
Mike will be best remembered for his kind heart and his love for Seven Springs, family, friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 27, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Seven Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Smith and the Rev. Phyllis Vail officiating.
Mike is survived by his daughters, Angell Dawson of Asheville and Amanda Paige Dawson and Elizabeth K. Penny both of Seven Springs; fiancée, Lynn Sanderson Hardy of the home, and her daughters, Amy Hardy Thigpen of Pink Hill and Heather Hardy Hill of Seven Springs; grandchildren, Nathan Dawson, Riley Hill, Jay Hill, Joseph Thigpen and Abby Williams; sister, Kay Dawson Holmes and husband, Allen, of Bowden; aunt, Jewel Dawson Kilpatrick; nieces, Lindsey H. Reaves and Laura H. Sechler; and a nephew, Stephen Holmes.
The Dawson family will receive friends following the graveside service Friday morning, and at other times at the home.
