CARL C. MASSENGILL
May 14, 1930-April 24, 2012
Carl C. Massengill, 81, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at his home.
Carl was born in Johnston County May 14, 1930, to the late Claudie Andrew Massengill and Mittie Bell Lambert Massengill.
He had worked with Cherry Hospital, and retired as a correctional officer with the North Carolina Prison System.
Carl was a man who enjoyed the simple things of life, and could often be found tending his garden, feeding his chickens and playing with his dogs.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Rick Mondell officiating.
Carl is survived by his brother, Bill Massengill and wife, Peggy, of Goldsboro; his sister, Mary Lou Gray-Flowers of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elmina M. Massengill; his son, James Carl Massengill; and his siblings, Lessie Martin, Marvin Massengill, Needham Massengill, Ernest Massengill, Dorothy Shaver, Janet Pearsall and Claudie Massengill.
The family will receive friends Saturday following the service at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
