MINNIE M. BUTTS

SNOW HILL -- Minnie Mae Butts, 91, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Mrs. Butts has resided in the Shine Community of Greene County since 1941 and soon thereafter joined Free Gospel PFWB Church in 1942. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Free Gospel, having sung in the choir, and had been actively involved in the Lady's Aid. Together with her late husband, Frank, she founded and operated the Shine Shopping Center for many years until their retirement.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at Free Gospel PFWB Church with the Rev. Terry Heath officiating. Committal services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Snow Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Butts was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Butts and Preston Latta; a sister, Hilda Westbrook; and brothers, Lee Grizzard, Wilbur Grizzard, Joe Grizzard and Pate Grizzard.

Her surviving family includes her son, Tim Butts and wife, Jan of Goldsboro; grandsons, Brett Butts of Greenville and Justin Butts of Goldsboro; special nephews, Mike Westbrook and Wayne Westbrook; special nieces, Margaret Lee, Mildred Dunn and Mary Lou Duncan; and a special friend, Chris Smith; and many other nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday immediately following the service and other times at the Butts residence, 204 Smith Drive, Goldsboro, N.C. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Free Gospel PFWB Church Choir, 145 Free Gospel Road, Snow Hill, N.C. 28580.
