Leah Holmes Best, 86, Goldsboro, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012.
Mrs. Best was born Oct. 10, 1925, in Wayne County to the late Marvin and Lily Ivey Price Holmes. She was the wife of the late T. Clifton Best, and was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Best.
Mrs. Best was a member of Trinity Free Will Baptist Church and Seven Springs Rescue Auxiliary.
A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gerald Fowler officiating. Interment will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mrs. Best is survived by four children, Faye Best Potter and husband, Royce, of LaGrange, Terry W. Best and wife, Rolanda, of Goldsboro, John H. Best and friend, Cathy, of Goldsboro and Ann Best Gallagher and husband, John, of Wake Forest; four grandchildren, Brad Coffey, Travis Best and wife, Susan, Taylor Best and wife, Kandace, and Ivey Best; four great-grandchildren, Sloan Godbey, Emery Best, Maris Best and Alli Ann Best; four siblings, Delmus Holmes, Inez Lohr, Wayne Holmes and Carol Wiggs; along with her caregiver, Carol Unklesbury.
Mrs. Best was also preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen Holmes and Van Holmes.
The family will receive friends Saturday following the service, and at other times will be at the home of John H. Best, 175 St. John Church Road, Goldsboro.
