CHARLES E. AYCOCK

PIKEVILLE -- Charles E. "Bud" Aycock, 88, went to be with his heavenly father Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, at his home.
Charles was born in Wayne County Oct. 4, 1923, the son of the late Lester Barnes Aycock Sr. and Cora Ellen Hines Aycock.
Mr. Aycock was a retired farmer, and was a charter member of Nahunta and Little River volunteer fire departments.
Because of his love for children and his desire that children have an appreciation of livestock, he was a long-term member, and served on the board of directors, of the Wayne County Livestock Association, and was an avid supporter of the Wayne Regional Agricultural Fair.
He was a charter member of D&H Saddle Club, a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and National Cutting Horse Association.
Mr. Aycock proudly served his country in the United States Army, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Aycock will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Eric Woods and the Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Interment with military honors will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. Eric Woods and the Rev. Calvin Craft officiating.
Charles is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Belle Edgerton Aycock; children, Mike Aycock and wife, Judy, Susan Anderson and husband, Billy, and Walton Aycock and wife, Robin, all of Pikeville; his son-in-law, Charles Massengill and wife, Frances, of Pikeville; his grandchildren, Marcy Lamm and husband, Kelly, Holly Aycock, Tim Aycock and wife, Kathy, Amy Gambill and husband, Phillip, Frank Sauls and wife, Marsha, Bill Anderson and wife, Jeane, Marti Jones and husband, Stevie, Hannah Niemasz and husband, Jon, and Jenna Aycock; great-grandchildren, Jase and Jada Lamm, Kyleigh, Layson and McKenzie Aycock, Tate Anderson, Dallas and Dakota Jones, Seth Gambill and Kristen Sauls; sisters, Ella Mae Santino of Falls Church, Va., Joyce "Jack" Pope of Pikeville and Carol Richardson and husband, Harold, of Pikeville; brothers, Alex Aycock and wife, Jo Ann, and Peter Aycock and wife, Judith, all of Pikeville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Virginia "Jenny" Aycock Massengill, and grandson, Daniel Smith.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Kasbari, Angie and Tina and the entire staff at Southeastern Medical Oncology Center for their love, care, and support.

The family will receive friends Friday following the service, and other times at the home of Mike and Judy Aycock.
