MARVIN R. UZZELL

ELROY -- Marvin Ray Uzzell, 70, Elroy, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011.

Marvin was born June 29, 1941, in Wayne County to the late Richard and Alice Mae Hines Uzzell.

He served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Marvin was a lifelong farmer in the Elroy community. He had a passionate love for his family and the land he grew up on and farmed.

A graveside service of remembrance will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery with pastor Fred Crank officiating.

Marvin is survived by four brothers, Theodore Uzzell, Malcolm Uzzell and wife, Ann, Milton Uzzell and wife, Helen, and David Uzzell and wife, Peggy, all of Goldsboro; two sisters, Glenda Uzzell and Jeanette Hyde and husband, Robert, all of Goldsboro; two sisters-in-law, Louise Cooper Uzzell of Burgaw and Louise B. Uzzell of Goldsboro.

In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Uzzell Jr., and nine half-siblings, Robert Lee Uzzell, Bennie Uzzell, Prentice Uzzell, Preston Uzzell, Raymond Uzzell, John William Uzzell, Pauline Thomas, Emma Frances Jones and Penny Ruth Thompson.

The family will receive friends Saturday following the graveside service, and at other times they will be at the home.
