BARBARA T. RIDDLE

Barbara Taylor Riddle, 611 Deer Acres Drive, following a valiant battle with cancer and other health challenges, surrounded by the family she cherished, laid down her earthly life, and was gathered into the arms of Jesus Sunday morning, Oct. 2. She was 74.
She was born in Wayne County to Jamie Lee and Bernice Joyner Taylor, and as her life bloomed, she became a wonderful sister, wife, mother and grandmother.
She was also an exceptionally hard worker. While employed as a switchboard operator at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, she met her loving husband of 52 years. Together they owned and operated Taylor's Grocery/Gas/Seafood Market on U.S. 117 South for many years. She retired from Cooper-Bussmann in 2001.
She was also an outstanding seamstress and fantastic cook, but above all, she was a Christian and everything she did pointed to the unconditional love inspired by Christ. Her grateful family will dearly miss her, but will carry her heart and legacy with great joy and pride, until we join our angel in Heaven.
A special thanks to Heather, Trent and Julie and all others who showed her kindness during this, her toughest, but final battle.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Riddle will be held Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Carla Williamson, the Rev. Aubrey Williamson and the Rev. David Kriger officiating.
Family members will greet friends Tuesday immediately following the service at the funeral home, and at other times at the home.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Mrs. Riddle is survived by her husband, Charles B. "Chuck" Riddle; three daughters, Louise R. Kriger and husband, David, of Fremont, the Rev. Carla R. Williamson and husband, Aubrey, of Kenly and Teresa R. Holloman of Goldsboro; a brother, James Allen "Buddy" Taylor and wife, Frankie, of Dudley; six grandchildren, Joshua Kriger, Adam Kriger and wife, Renee', Noah Kriger and wife, Leslie, Charles Williamson, Bryan Williamson and Phillip Williamson; and a great-grandson, Ethan Kriger.
