MASTER SGT. CHARLES F. BANNISTER

Retired Air Force Master Sgt. Charles Furman Bannister, 72, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Charlie was born in Belton, S.C., March 13, 1939, to the late William Eugene Bannister and Ida Elizabeth McCurley Bannister.
He retired from the United States Air Force after 26 years of service.
Following his military career, Charlie worked as a correctional officer for the Department of Corrections, where he retired.
Charlie had a great passion for golf, and if it was a beautiful day, he enjoyed being on the links sharing shots and laughter with his many friends.
A service of remembrance will be held Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with military honors.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Charlie is survived by his daughter, Karla B. Newton and husband, Chris, of Raleigh; his son, Kevin Bannister of Dover, Del.; his fiancée and special companion, Kay Odom; his grandchildren, Kira Bannister, Haley Bannister and Luke Newton; his sister, Odell Hanks of Belton, S.C.; and his brothers, Talmadge Bannister and William Bannister both of Belton, S.C.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Bannister, and brother, Raymond Bannister.
