LAGRANGE -- Maxie H. Harrison, 79, of LaGrange, passed away Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011. She was born Jan. 8, 1932, in Greene County to the late Titus Greene Harrison and Ruth Leneave Harrison. She graduated from LaGrange High School and married her sweetheart, Frederick Millard Harrison Sr. Together they farmed and raised a family outside of LaGrange. Her deep, passionate love for her Lord and family was exhibited in all she did. She cherished time spent with family and took great pride in preparing family meals, canning vegetables and gardening. A lifelong member of Hull Road Original Free Will Baptist Church, she was active in all areas of the church ministry. Mrs. Harrison taught Sunday school for many years, participated in the Ladies Auxiliary and was very active in all areas of the children's ministry. She also worked 20 years with Sandpiper Seafood.

A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at 10 a.m. from Hull Road Original Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Grubbs officiating. Interment will follow at Snow Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Harrison is survived by her husband of 60 years, Frederick Millard Harrison Sr.; four children, Debra Harrison Lewis and husband, Jake of New Bern, Freddie Harrison and wife, Judy of LaGrange, Jill Harrison Wiggins and husband, John of LaGrange, Tim Harrison and wife, Cindy of Point Pleasant, N.J.; 15 grandchildren, Jay Lewis and wife, Jaime, Carrie Lewis Mills and husband, Brandon, Daniel Lewis, Janis Harrison Skoczylas and husband, Joe, Jaime Harrison Moore and husband Will, Laura Harrison, James Wiggins, Ryan Wiggins, David Wiggins, Luke Wiggins, Aaron Harrison, Allie Harrison, Jack Harrison, Olivia Harrison, Ethan Harrison and Isabel Harrison; five great-grandchildren, Matilyn Lewis, Bryce Lewis, Peyton Mills, Aiden Skoczylas and Braxton Skoczylas; and six siblings, Kendrick Harrison Sr., Enzie Singleton, Holton Harrison, Joseph Harrison, Clifton Harrison and Donnie Harrison, all of LaGrange. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five siblings, Titus Harrison, Elvie Ruth Holland, Cleo Harrison, Holton Hillard Harrison and Dixon Harrison.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com.
