Died Aug. 7, 2011
Donald Cecil Neal Sr., 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.
Mr. Neal was born in Wayne County on Nov. 1, 1938 to the late Grover Neal and Alice Thompson Neal. He retired from the City of Goldsboro as superintendent of fire and traffic. He was a member of Rosewood First Baptist Church. He served in the N.C. National Guard and was currently serving on the Fork Township Water Board.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Rosewood First Baptist Church with Pastor Kent Boone and Rev. Linda Burroughs officiating. Burial will follow in the Princeton Cemetery.
Mr. Neal is survived by his wife, Gloria Titus Neal; his son, Donald C. Neal Jr. and wife, Joann of Goldsboro; his daughters, Renee Neal Parrish and husband, Ricky of Goldsboro and Valerie Neal Barlow and husband, Tim of Fuquay-Varina; his sister, Erma Thomas and husband, J.C. of Emerald Isle; six grandchildren, Steven Parrish and wife, Jennifer, Bliss Parrish, Olivia Neal, Brooke Neal, Savannah Barlow and Scarlett Barlow and two great-grandchildren, Martin and Marley Parrish; his stepdaughters, Deborah Holland and husband, Joey and Lisa Sullivan and husband, Randy, all of Goldsboro; his stepsons, Michael Babcock of Goldsboro, Donald Babcock of Los Angeles, Calif., and Christopher Babcock of Virginia; his five step-grandchildren, Ashley Banks and husband, Anthony, Melissa Holland, J.D. Holland, Kimberly Summerell and Kyle Summerell and two step great-grandchildren, Sean Banks and Lexi Holland. Mr. Neal took special interest in loving and helping raise Ronnie Wells of Goldsboro. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Iris Best Neal.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Rosewood First Baptist Church, 562 N.C. Highway 581 South, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
The family will receive friends on tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Don and Joann Neal, 386 Perkins Mill Road, Goldsboro.
