SEVEN SPRINGS -- Marlton Ray Davenport, 68, of 554 Camp Jubilee Road, Seven Springs, died Thursday night, July 28, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. today, July 31, at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Myron Scott officiating, and with visitation afterwards. The committal service will be be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, at Pineview Cemetery, Seven Springs, and will be officiated by the Rev. A.G. Smith.
Son of the late Raymond Marlton Davenport and Gertrude Elizabeth Price Davenport, he had served in the NC National Guard, had been a farmer, and was employed in water and sewer pipeline construction.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Bennett Davenport of the home; five children, Marlton Perry Davenport and wife, Ashley, of Seven Springs, Trent Price and wife, Kathy, of Smithfield, Beverly Taylor and husband, Chestley, of Mount Olive, Wanda Hill and husband, Gary, of Nashville, and Carolyn Bruno and husband, Tony, of Richlands; a brother, Nelson Davenport of Seven Springs; two sisters, Joyce Kornegay of Seven Springs, and Ann Lambert of Goldsboro; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
