FRANCES S. COOKSEY
Feb. 8, 1928-July 2, 2011
Frances Sauls Cooksey, 83, resident of Kirkwood Retirement Community, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Frances was born in Wayne County Feb. 8, 1928 to the late Benjamin Miller Sauls and Patsy Boyette Sauls. She was married to the late Lloyd Bradford Cooksey.
Frances worked for more than 19 years with Kemp Furniture Co.
She was a member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Frances will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always enjoyed visiting with her many friends at Kirkwood and her church family.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Rose officiating, followed by a time of visitation. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Willow Dale Cemetery.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Patsy Taylor and husband, Bob, of Goldsboro, and her daughter-in-law, Shirley Cooksey of Grantham, whom she loved as her own daughter.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Robert Taylor Jr. and wife, Tamra, Kandice Stigge and husband, Travis, Robin Aguirre and husband, Marcus, and Brad Cooksey; and her great-grandchildren, Cole Cooksey, Lillie Grace Taylor, Preston Taylor, Isabella Aguirre, Rebecca Grace Stigge and Ryan Gabriel Stigge.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Benjamin Bradford Cooksey, and someone she loved as her own son, Steve Clifton Bass.
The Cooksey family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of the third floor at Wayne Memorial Hospital and Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the love and care shown to our mother during her declining health.
