MELVIA LEE WESTBROOK

Melvia Lee Westbrook, 94, died at her home in Bentonville Friday.

A funeral service will be held today, May 22, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 3162 Harper House Road, Four Oaks, with the Rev. Richard Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with visitations immediately following the service.

She was born Oct. 29, 1916, in Johnston County to the late Mary and Jasper Lee. After her mother's death, Melvia was adopted by Lafayette and Fannie Dupree Langston and was a life-long resident of Bentonville.

Melvia was married to the late Ivan Earl Westbrook. A devoted housewife and mother, she dedicated her life to her family. Her children treasure the love and support she gave them through the years. Her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren enjoyed her love, kindness and good humor.

Melvia was a faithful member of Ebenezer UMC and of the United Methodist Women. In 1995, she received the Woman of the Year Award from the United Methodist Women.

In addition to her parents, her siblings and her husband, she was predeceased by a beloved son, Lafayette Earl Westbrook.

Melvia is survived by four children, Betty W. Rios and husband, Vic, Eldridge Westbrook and wife, Julia, and Anthony Westbrook, all of Bentonville, and Geneva W. Cox and husband, Jimmy, of Clayton. She is survived by grandchildren, Margaret Rose Westbrook, Amy B. Dixon, Eric Westbrook, Paula W. Hunter, Jonathan R. Cox, and Susan G. Westbrook. She also leaves six great-grandchildren, Jalen Dixon, Troy Baddour, Anne Louise Baddour, Braeden Hunter, Mendy Westbrook and Paul Hunter.
