PIKEVILLE -- William Glen "Bill" Matthews, 75, passed away Monday, May 16, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family.
Bill was born in Hoopeston, Ill., Aug. 13, 1935, to the late Glen and Emma Mullins Matthews.
He worked for many years as a salesman of heavy equipment.
Arrangements will be announced later for a memorial service that will be held in Hoopeston, Ill.
Bill is survived by his wife, Shirley Long Matthews; his sons, Matt Matthews of Alamogordo, N.M., and Michael Matthews of Star Valley, Ark.; his sisters, Linda Moore of Monticello, Ill., and Susan Rhodes of Champagne, Ill.; his brother, Randall Matthews of Farmer City, Ill.; and his grandchildren, Zack Matthews and Moriah Matthews. He is also survived by his stepdaughters, Kim Grantham of Goldsboro, Debra Dee of Marysville, Ohio, Diana Kissner of Magnolia and Julie Gatrell of Pikeville; his stepson, Mike Nolan of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; and he was especially close to his stepgrandson, Jeremy Gatrell.
