FAYETTEVILLE -- Carroll Gene Evans, 74, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, in his home.
Born May 6, 1936, in Johnston County to the late Henry Milton and Etta Creech Evans, he was preceded in death by a son, Travis Henry Evans.
Gene was retired from the United States Air Force March 31, 1977, as a master sergeant.
He was a member of Arran Lakes Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma, with the Rev. Jay Summerlin officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Tommy Cavins Evans; sons, Thomas A. Evans of Morehead City and Timothy Gene Evans of Garner; adopted daughters, Adrienne Thompson of Greenville and Kathrin Evans of Fayetteville; brother, M. Wayne Evans of Micro; and a granddaughter, Summer Evans of Baltimore, Md.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. just prior to the service.
