DEACON SAM ESSEX ISLER

Deacon Sam Essex Isler, 508 Stadium Drive, was born to the late Fred and Florence Isler Aug. 8, 1913, in Wayne County. He quietly entered into eternal rest Sunday at Willow Creek Nursing Home.
He was the fifth child of 10.
He was educated in the Wayne County Public Schools.
Later he enlisted into the United States Army, where he served his country for many years.
He was married to the late Sudie Bell Howard for more than 40 years until her passing.
Deacon Isler was a member of Shady Grove for more than 85 years, joining at the age of 12.
He retired from Dillon Supply Co. after 30 years.
He was a member of J.W. Hood Lodge No. 8 and a member of Mizpah Temple No. 66.
He leaves a legacy of loved ones to cherish his memories sister, Hattie Ford of Washington, D.C.; a faithful and caring nephew, Harold (Elizabeth) Isler of Goldsboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
A viewing will be held today from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends at 209 Winslow Circle in Goldsboro, where they will also assemble in preparation for the funeral cortege.
Services to celebrate the life of Deacon Isler will held Friday at 11 a.m. at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist church. Following the services in the sanctuary, Deacon Isler's corporeal temple, along with his adored family, will be escorted to Elmwood Cemetery for interment rites. For it is in this earthly consign that Deacon Isler will remain until that glorious day when all of God's children will hear Gabriel blow that heavenly trumpet, and all that are asleep in Christ shall be caught up to meet Him in the air.
