PINEVILE, Ky. -- Martha Brooks Wilder Zealy, 87, of Pineville, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at the Pineville Community Hospital.
She was born in Decatur, Ga., on Feb. 10, 1923, a daughter of the late Grace Star Muse Ball and Oliver Russell Muse. Martha had attended Furman University and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor of arts degree in art education. She retired from the Bell County School System, where she had been an art teacher. She had been an active member of the First Baptist Church, Pineville and the First Christian Church of Corbin and she had been active in many civic activities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Dr. Jimmy Brooks and Vernon Wilder Sr.; sons, Vernon Wilder Jr. and Bill Wilder and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Brooks.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. James Zealy, children and their spouses, Milton and Teresa Brooks of Pineville, Russell and Kim Brooks of Nicholasville, Ky., and Bob and Jane Brooks of Marietta, Ga., Jim Andy and Jan Wilder, Susan (Wilder) and Jim Begley, Mary Earl (Wilder) and Paul Erickson; daughters-in-law, Peggy Wilder and Alice Wilder; grandchildren, Abby and Brian Fitzgerald, Ben and Megan Brooks, Luke Brooks, Marla and Eddie Morris and Lee J. and Mary Brooks, Tammy (Wilder) and Mike Masterson, Tim Wilder, Chris and Elizabeth Wilder, David and Julie Wilder, Jenny Wilder, Brent and Hillary Wilder, Zach Wilder, Macy Begley, Corbin Erickson, Chase Erickson and Laura Erickson; great-grandchildren, Madeline Brooks, Baker Brooks, Morgan Morris and Eli Morris; special sister-in-law and her husband, Barbara and Charles Grace; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, Pineville, with the Rev. Ron Howard. Music will be by Annette Walden. Burial will be in the Pineville Memorial Cemetery, Pineville. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Begley, Ben Brooks, Lee J. Brooks, Luke Brooks, Paul Erickson, Brian Fitzgerald, Brooks Johnson and Eddie Morris.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1 until 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Pineville.
