Esther Mae Keene, 93, departed this life Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, N.C.
God, in his infinite wisdom, decided to call his beloved child from labor to reward.
A native of Goldsboro, N.C., she was born May 6, 1917, unto the union of the late Martha Mary Raynor and the late Needham Raynor.
Mrs. Keene was preceded in death by her beloved brother, James E. Raynor; sister, Lorraine R. Cobb; and her canine companion, "Spikey."
Survivors include cousins, Joel H. Silver (Augusta) of Goldsboro, Betty Wooten and family of Goldsboro and Miriam Hilton (Walter) of Dayton, Ohio; a niece, Monique R. Perello of New York; her adopted daughter, Robyn H. Norwood-Lee of Garner; and a host of friends and neighbors.
Mrs. Keene was a dedicated volunteer at Wayne Memorial Hospital for 10 years. She remained professional, courteous and eager to meet the needs of others.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Howell's Funeral Home and Crematory, 1500 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home until time of service. Entombment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, U.S. 117 south, Goldsboro, N.C.
