CHARLOTTE -- Mrs. Maurice Austin Gandy, 82, of Charlotte, formerly of Goldsboro, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010. She passed away surrounded by her family in the care of The Hospice Unit at Presbyterian Hospital.
She was an active member of Arlington Baptist Church.
Maurice was born Nov. 30, 1928, in Joplin, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Ashford; her father, Jay Ashford; her husband, Richard M. Gandy; and two sons, Marcel Vincent Gandy and Paul Jay Gandy.
She is survived by her daughter, Sasha Reeves; two sons, Dr. Richard Steven Gandy and Carry Preston Gandy; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Arlington Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Dec. 26, 2010.
Her son, Steven, will officiate the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Arlington Baptist Church, Building Fund, 9801 Arlington Church Road, Charlotte, N.C., 28227.
