SEVEN SPRINGS -- Betty Smith Price, 94, passed away quietly in Tuesday's early morning hours while at home.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at "The Church on the Hill," -- Seven Springs United Methodist Church -- with the Rev. Phyllis Vail officiating. Thursday morning, friends and family will gather at the church cemetery for graveside committal rites to be at 11 a.m.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service Wednesday night in the church's Price-Jackson fellowship hall, and at other times at the Price residence.
Surviving family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Maynard and Tammie Price of Seven Springs; grandchildren and spouses, Emily G. and Ronnie Malpass, Cynthia Grady and Jason and Sandy Price all of Seven Springs; great-grandchildren, Ashley Price, Christy Bennett, Ronda and Shawn Jackson, Brandon and Erin Malpass, Raven Brock and Mikayla Price; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mildred Smith of Seven Springs; and her devoted in-home care-givers, Jeannie Malpass, Thelma Miles, Margaret Parks and Lettie Thigpen.
Mrs. Price was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Bennett Price; a daughter, Jane "Tootsie" Price Grady Kelly; a grandson, Kurt Maynard Price; a daughter-in-law, Janie Ray Price; her parents, Benjamin Franklin and Sally Bizzell Smith; and her only brother, Harold Smith.
Flowers are welcome, while memorial gifts are suggested to be made to Seven Springs Methodist Church, c/o Nelda K. Smith, 3699 Emmaus Church Road, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
