Thelma Elizabeth Buckrham Bell, 87, 707 W. Walnut St., was peacefully escorted by the angels to her eternal rest Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hosptial.

She was born in Greene County to the late Henry Lee and Maccie Baker Buckrham.

Thelma attended Wayne County public schools, and retired from Cherry Hospital after 30 years of dedicated service.

Fond memories will be cherished by her children, Mary B. Hobbs Hamm (Jesse), Eddie B. Bell, Michael D. Bell (Tammy), Andra Bell (Hazel) of Goldsboro, John Henry Bell Jr. and Torrior Mechelle Bell of the home; sister-in-law, Eloise Battle of Goldsboro; brother-in-law, the Rev. Edward Bell of Dudley; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband John H. Bell.

Eulogistic services will conducted Friday at 1 p.m. at First African Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. J. A. Mumford officiating. Her mortal frame will be laid to rest in Wayne Memorial Park.

Visitation Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries of Goldsboro.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, where they will also assemble in preparation for the funeral cortege.
