JOHNNY DORTCH BEDFORD

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Johnny Dortch Bedford, 85, Groce Road, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Born Jan. 25, 1925, in Goldsboro, N.C., he was the son of the late Wayland Dortch and Ella Howell Bedford, and husband of the late Lena Brigman Bedford.
He was retired from Spector Freight Lines after 40 years of service, a member of Teamster Local Union #28 and a member of the Methodist faith. He was devoted to his Lord, his family, his job and his beloved Atlanta Braves.
Survivors include a daughter, Penny Bedford Wyatt and husband, Jerry, of the home; two sons, John Randall Bedford and wife, Cathey, of Cheraw, S.C., and James Nathan Bedford; six grandchildren, John Walker Wyatt, Emily Ann Wyatt, James Dylan Bedford and Nathan Kyle Bedford all of Spartanburg and Jonathan Brett Bedford and Laurie Katherine Bedford of Columbia; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Bedford; and a brother, Nathan Bedford of Logansville, Ga.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Aliean Daughtry and Virginia Holzkamm, and three brothers, Leroy, Willie and K.D. Bedford.
Visitation was held from 3 to 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.
Funeral services followed at 4 p.m. at the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Larry Fleming and the Rev. Robert M. Wofford. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
