JEANNETTE EADDY

Jeannette Eaddy was born Sept. 2, 1947, to the late Reo W. Cooper and Pearl M. Cooper. Friday, July 9, 2010, Jeannette succumbed to the call from her master.

She was educated in Florence County.

Jeannette became a Christian at the early age of 12, and joined St. James Baptist Church in Johnsonville, S.C. Jeannette used her ministry in song all through her life from New Haven to England to Italy.

She received certification as a nursing assistant at OIC Vocational. She was employed by Yale New Haven Hospital as a nursing assistant and a receptionist cashier at Yale University.

She married the love of her life May 20, 1975.

She retired in 2009 from the United States government after 20 years of service as a housekeeping supervisor.

The Eaddys settled in Goldsboro, and joined First Assembly of God and became a vital part of the church. Jeannette was an active auxiliaries member of the church.

She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted and loving husband, James Eaddy; sons, Daniel O. (Yvonne) Wilson of Charlotte, Jason Alexander (Bridgett) Eaddy of Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii, and Jermaine Reo Eaddy of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Daniel Jr., Venise Alexandrea and Brijaye Jeannette; siblings, Betty L. (Joseph) Smith of Richmond, Va., Felix (Lenell) Cooper of Hemmingway, S.C., and Carolyn Thornnette Cooper of Camden, S.C.; sisters-in-law, Minnie McKnight, Queen Eaddy, Dorothy Cooper and Sarah Eaddy; brothers-in-law, Samuel (Gloria) Eaddy, David (Russelean) Eaddy, Ezra (Mollie) Eaddy, Joseph (Gloria) Eaddy, Jacob (Metti Ruth) Eaddy, John (Martha) Eaddy and David Wilson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.

She was preceded in death by siblings, James Davis, Lillie Wilson, Archie Cooper and Verlie Cooper.

A visitation for Mrs. Eaddy will be held today from 3 to 7 p.m. at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremations Inc. Services to celebrate the prolific life and legacy of Mrs. Eaddy will be held Friday at 12 noon at First Assembly of God.

Mrs. Eaddy will then be carefully coached to Johnsonville, S.C., for continued celebration of life services. Services will resume Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. James Baptist Church, 2008 Vox Highway, Johnsonville, S.C.

Following the formal proceedings in the sanctuary, Mrs. Eaddy, along with her adored family, will be escorted to the Eaddy-Ford Cemetery for committal rites.

Services of true compassion and superior class are rendered to the Eaddy family by E.M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremations Inc.
