LOIS V.B. COLEY

In serenity and resolve, Lois Vernell Brown Coley, 78, 1912 Cooke St., passed away early Saturday morning at her residence.
Her life and service to God and mankind will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at White Oak Original Free Will Baptist Church in Pikeville, with elder George Wiggins officiating. As a loving and final tribute, the funeral cortege will pass the family home, where her stainless steel tapestry rose casket will be placed in an authentic 1892 Cunningham horse-drawn hearse for her journey to Elmwood Cemetery.
She leaves to mourn her husband of more than 50 years, Irvin Coley of the home; her children, Barbara Miller and husband, Larry, of Dudley, Eleanor Brown of Goldsboro, Marcia Coley of Wendell, Donna Beeler of Raleigh, Ervinette Bizzell and husband, Silas, of Goldsboro, Phillip Smith and wife, Patricia, of Newark, N.J., and Rudolph Smith of Fremont.; her sister, Shirley Bass of Goldsboro; 16 grandchildren, including William "Rick" Coley, whom she raised; and a host of great-grandchildren, including William "Mico" Coley Jr. of the home.
Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 7 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at McItnyre Funeral Home Ministries of Goldsboro.
The family will assemble at the residence in preparation for the funeral procession.
