ADMIRAL G. HOWELL

Admiral Griffith Howell, 85, passed away on Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Seonz Joshua Eom officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with honors rendered by the Wayne County Sheriff Department Honor Guard.

Admiral was born in Wayne County to the late Oscar Jarman Howell Sr. and Maude Scott Howell. He was married to the late Elizabeth Crawford Howell. Admiral was a retired wildlife enforcement officer for the State of North Carolina. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. Admiral was also a member of the Golden "K" Kiwanis and the Harmony Lodge No. 340 A.F. and A.M. in Pikeville. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

Admiral is survived by his son, Admiral Griffith "Griff" Howell Jr. and wife, Carolyn, of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Ashley Howell and Cameron Howell; his sister, Nancy H. Graham of Mount Ulla and his brother, William S. Howell of Wilmington.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Grace H. Smith and his brother, O.J. Howell Jr.

Members of the Golden "K" Kiwanis Club and the Harmony Lodge will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2706 Salem Church Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530, or to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.

The family will receive friends today from 1 until 5 p.m. at Admiral's home and Monday from 1:30 until 3 p.m. in Salem Hall at Salem United Methodist Church.
