Jimmy Earl Smith, 65, passed away Wednesday at his home.

A service of remembrance will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Francis officiating. A private inurnment for the family will be held at Salem Cemetery.

Jimmy was born in Wayne County Feb. 4, 1945, to the late Jim Berry Smith and Lela Futrell Smith.

He retired as the human resources director at Franklin Baking Co. and later worked with Wachovia Securities.

Jimmy was a member of Saulston United Methodist Church.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Shawnna Moffett Smith; his daughter, Stefanie Smith and fiancé, Louis Defelice, of Wilmington; his son, Benjamin Smith of the home; his sisters, Mary Ann Millard and husband, Billy, of Goldsboro and Rose Towbin and husband, Jeff, of Goldsboro; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Alan and Deborah Moffett of Walton, Ky.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saulston United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4620 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will receive friends Sunday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
