Earl Barefoot, 76, passed away Monday evening at Wake Medical Center.

Funeral service will be held Friday at Adamsville Baptist Church, of which he was a member, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Todd Wiggins officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with military honors.

Earl was born in Sampson County Oct. 4, 1933, to the late Elijah Barefoot and Neatha Hudson Barefoot. He was married to the late Doris G. Barefoot.

Earl retired from civil service at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

He was a member of Adamsville Baptist Church and was a Master Gardener. Earl served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Earl is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Kostenbauder and husband, Jay, of York, Pa.; his sons, Tim Barefoot and wife, Sharon, of LaGrange, Terry Barefoot of Navarre, Fla., and Linda Barefoot of Jacksonville, Fla.; his sisters, Lalon Hollingsworth of LaGrange and Sylvia Maxwell of Hendersonville; his brothers, Cecil Barefoot and Wilbert Barefoot both of Fayetteville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Adamsville Baptist Church, 1302 N. Berkeley Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 117 Bear Creek Road in Goldsboro.
