HOPEWELL, Va. -- Molly Combs Higbee, 48, passed away Thursday at her residence.
A memorial service was held Sunday at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Jeff Raymond, pastor of First Baptist Church of Hopewell, Va., officiating.
She was born in Goldsboro and had made her home in Hopewell for several years.
Molly was a Latin instructor and senior advisor at Appomatox Regional Governor School for the Arts and Technology for the past four years. Prior to her tenure at the Governor's School, she taught at Colonial Heights High School and Hopewell High School.
She was a devoted and loving mother to her daughter, Tray, and was involved in many charitable activities.
Molly attended First Baptist Church, where she played the hand bells.
She is survived by a daughter, Tray Norman of Hopewell, Va.; her father, Gordon T. Combs of Goldsboro; her mother, Patsy McLamb of Goldsboro; a brother, Jeffrey Combs of Goldsboro; her aunts, Virginia Royall of Goldsboro, Polly Moore of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Susan Robert of Bath.
The family received friends Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Hopewell chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
