REV. GEORGE A. HOWELL

MOUNT OLIVE -- The Rev. George Albert "G.A." Howell, 1228 Old Smith Chapel Road, went to be with his Lord Friday while at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Son of the late Rufus Albert and Lilllie Sutton Howell, his career spanned 261/2 years with the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier. Also, he had been employed with the Wayne County School System as a school bus driver and with Mount Olive College as a security officer.
For many years, he was a television minister with WHFL-TV.
Mr. Howell is survived by his wife, Wilma Barefoot Howell of the home; a son, Rufus Albert Howell of Goldsboro; six sisters, Lucille Rackley of Dunn, Blonnie Forrest, Katie Edwards and Estelle Godwin all of Goldsboro and Mabel Mozingo Britton and Edith Sutton both of Mount Olive; and a dear brother-in-law, Woodrow Anderson of Goldsboro.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial gifts be made to WHFL-TV, PO Box 282, Goldsboro, N.C., 27533, to continue to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Tyndall Funeral Home.
