CARRBORO -- Johnnie Melvin Ellis Jr., 50, passed away Sunday at his residence.
The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. today at Walker's Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Jim Greenlee officiating. Interment followed in Westwood Cemetery in Carrboro.
He was a graduate of East Carolina University and was currently employed by the UNC Healthcare System.
Johnnie was a kind and gentle person, who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Johnnie is survived by his wife, Ellen Thomas Ellis of the home; his mother, Patricia Dean Ellis of Ocean Isle; brother, Scott Ellis and wife, Ruth Ann, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sister, Wendy Oleson and husband, Alan, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; niece, Sydney Oleson; nephew, Ty Bellamy and wife, Harmony; great-nephew, Ethan Bellamy; maternal grandmother, Pearl Duncan Dean of Raleigh; and many extended relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Melvin Ellis Sr.
The family received friends at Walker's Funeral Home from 9:30 to 11 a.m. today.
