LUI K. SOLICE

June 11, 1930-July 25, 2009

MOUNT OLIVE -- Our loved one, Lui Kcella Solice, was born June 11, 1930, and departed this earthly life Saturday at his home.

A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Congreg-ational United Church of Christ in Dudley. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home of his sister, Pretlo Solice Edmonds.

He was the second child born to Charlie and Blossie Solice.

Lui was educated in the Wayne County Public Schools and attended Wayne Community College.

Lui worked and retired as a supervisor from Cherry Hospital. In search of religious and spiritual contentment, he joined and became a faithful and dutiful member of First Congregational United Church of Christ.

As part of his legacy, he has passed the torch of loving, caring and sharing commitment to his sisters, Charlotte Solice (F.P.) Strickland of Sunrise, Fla., and Pretlo Solice (B) Edmonds of Mount Olive; nephews, Daniel Flanagan, Jr. of Goldsboro, James (Darla) Flanagan, Lockhaven, Pa., Ronnie (Debra) Flanagan of Mount Olive, Anthony (Pat) Mathis of Waldorf, Md., Erwin Green of San Diego, Calif.; Markus Green of Washington D.C. and Gary Edmonds of Mount Olive; nieces, Annette (Jack) Rocha and Vickie Thomas of Sunrise, Fla.; Quan L. Mathis, Suitland, Md., Trina Moody of Upper Marlboro, Md.; and one sister-in-law, Bunnie Solice of Fort Washington, Md. Lui leaves other family members and friends to carry his torch.

Lui was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Thena Solice Mathis Green; one brother, Howard Taylor; and one nephew, Antonio D. Mathis.
