Benny Garley Beamon, 81, passed away Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Drew Clark and the Rev. Kelly Buffalo officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Benny was born in Wayne County Oct. 19, 1927, to the late Sadie Beamon and Minnie Pauline Lamb Beamon.

He was retired from E.I. DuPont and was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Troubleshooters. Benny was a Mason and a member of the York Rite and the Shrine Club. He served his country in the United States Navy.

Benny is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bessie Rose Beamon; his sons, Michael Beamon and wife, Earlene, of Durham and Allen Beamon of Oak Island; his daughter, Vickie B. Lassiter of Pikeville; his sister, Nancy Duncan of Wilson; five grandchildren, Chris Lassiter and wife, Emily, Sherry Vinson and husband, Shane, Robert Lassiter, Valerie Mace and husband, Brian, and Lindsey Beamon; his great-grandchildren, Cassandra Lassiter, Skyler Lassiter, Sarah Vinson, Caleb Lassister, Sydney Vinson and Jaylen Mace; and his beloved dog, Sadie.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC, 27534, or to First Presbyterian Church, 1101 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, NC, 27530.

The family will receive friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
