Clara O. Conwell, 81, died Thursday at Mount Olive Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Graveside services will be held at a later date in Indiana.
She was born in Bells, Tenn., to the late Hallie and Clara Roberts Horton and was married to the late William R. Conwell.
Mrs. Conwell is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Kenneth Faircloth of Goldsboro; one brother, Neal Horton; one sister, Bernice Delon of Kokomo, Ind.; two step-grandchildren, Kelly Wells and Christy Nowaczyk; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Mark Alan Conwell, and two sisters, Reap Blackwell and Minnie Robertson.
