CHARLES R. BROWN

Died June 12, 2009

SWANSBORO -- Charles Ray Brown, Master Sgt. USAF retired, 94, of 502 Hilltop Drive, died Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Black Memorial Chapel at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Drew Clark officiating. Interment with full military honors will be at noon. Tuesday in the Coastal Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.

A native of Florence County, S.C., he was the son of the late David and Minnie Lee Reynolds Brown. Charles was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Goldsboro and served his country during WWII in the United States Air Force. He lived a very simple and fully enriched life.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Evelyn McAllister Brown; son, Charles Ray Brown Jr. and wife, Margaret, of Emerald Isle; daughters, Barbara B. Forney and husband, George, of Ocean Isle Beach, and Mary Lane B. Smith of Raleigh; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Continuum Home Care and Hospice, 3391 Henderson Drive, Jacksonville, N.C. 28546 or Charity of your choice.

Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
