RUBY R. VERNON

July 12, 1926 - March 6, 2009

Ruby Frances Rouse Vernon, 82, passed away early Friday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Jimmy Whitfield and the Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Ruby was born in Green County on July 12, 1926 to the late Joe Rouse and Emma Taylor Rouse. She retired from Kemp Furniture with 17 years of service. Ruby was a member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Ruby is survived by her husband, Wilbert J. Vernon; her daughters, Pamela J. Hamm of Goldsboro and Ruby Teresa Skeens of Deep Run; her son, Timothy Dean Ivey of Goldsboro; her sister, Vernell Kearney of LaGrange; a granddaughter, Jena Snyder of Winterville; and two great-grandchildren, Trey Pearce and Taylor Pearce. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Jimmy Ray Vernon, William Earl "Billy" Vernon and Kathy V. Johnson; eight stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Dwight Ivey; and her sisters, Alene R. Yelverton, Mary Howell and Dorothy R. Daniels.

The family will receive friends today from 4 until 6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home, 1031 Old Grantham Road, Goldsboro.
