HOOKERTON -- Mrs. Dorothy Vaughan Wood, 80, passed away Monday evening at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Fort Run Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Turlington officiating. Committal services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Snow Hill Cemetery.
A native of Greene County, Mrs. Wood was born Feb. 23, 1928, the daughter of Kirby and Kitsey Smith Vaughan. She was a homemaker and farmer and a member of Fort Run Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
Mrs. Wood was the widow of Hubert C. Wood of Maury.
She is survived by her daughters, Randy Wood Hart and husband, Ricky, of Snow Hill and Marcia Wood Rouse and husband, Russell, of Grifton; a son, Craig Wood of Hookerton; sisters, Myde Harrison of Hookerton and Margie Barrow of LaGrange; grandchildren, Matthew Hart, Carly Hart, Ritchie Hart, Melissa Sauls, Amber Johnson and Tammy Willard; great-grandchildren, Jackson Hart, Colby Sauls, Madison Johnson and Mandy Sauls; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Thursday evening.
Arrangements are being handled by Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service of Snow Hill.
