Died Feb. 14, 2009

LAGRANGE -- Wilbur Richard Sasser passed away Saturday afternoon at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Kinston First Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Roland Harrell, the Rev. Bobby Williams and the Rev. Willis Pearson officiating. Interment will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston.

Wilbur was born in Wayne County to the late Ronald Sasser and Hettie Parnell Sasser. He retired from Dupont and was a member of the Kinston First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Wilbur had served his country in the United States Navy.

Wilbur is survived by his wife, Peggie Sutton Sasser; his children, Wilbur Sasser Jr. and wife, Beverly, of Havelock, Parrish Sasser and wife, Linda, of Surf City and Debbie Kimble and husband, Gary, of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by special friends, Shelby and Scott Clark, and Marie Little; and two special sisters-in-law, Doris Sasser and Betty Sasser.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda McDaniel and brothers, J.D. Sasser and Ronald Sasser Jr.

Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to Gideons International Kinston Camp, P.O. Box 1826, Kinston, N.C., 28501-0826.

The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service at the Kinston First Pentecostal Holiness Church and other times at his home.
