JUDITH DALE FINGER HUNTER

Nov. 4, 1946-Jan. 18, 2009

LOWELL -- Judith was born Nov. 4, 1946, in Durham to Zack and Hazel Finger. She passed away on Sunday.

Her early years were spent in Chapel Hill, Charlotte, and Morganton. She was an honor graduate of Morganton High School in 1965, and 1969 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Education.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, David Hill Hunter; her daughter, Jennifer McDuffie and husband, John, of Charlotte; grandsons, Hunter and Nick McDuffie; brother, John Finger and his wife, Sherry, of Cramerton, James Finger of Morganton; mother, Hazel Mull of Morganton; stepsister, Marie Gwynn and husband, H.N. of Newland; sister-in-law, Janet French and husband, Henry, of Virginia Beach, Va.; mother-in-law, Hill Hunter of Winston-Salem; special cousin, Paul Noles and wife, Carolyn, of Middleburg, Fla., and special friend and aunt, Rosa Alspaugh of Winston-Salem.

She was preceded in death by her father, Zack L. Finger, and stepfather, William M. Mull of Morganton.

Judy taught school, volunteered and worked many hours in libraries. She loved children, especially the loves of her life, Hunter and Nick, her nieces and nephews and their children.

Judy loved Motown, books, politics, UNC basketball, walking, and keeping in touch her many Goldsboro friends and others scattered across the states.

The family appreciates the wonderful staff at Gaston Hematology.

The family request no flowers or food but would appreciate memorials in honor of Judy be sent to, Gaston Hospice, 258 E. Garrison Blvd., P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, N.C., 28054.

Services will be private.
