Mr. Bruce Worrell, 95, of the Elroy Community, died Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with Bill Garner officiating. Burial will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Worrell was born in the Hood Swamp Community of Wayne County on Feb. 22, 1913, to the late John Morgan Worrell and Blanche Smith Worrell. He was married to the late Lucettia Overman Worrell. An avid fox hunter, Mr. Worrell was a retired farmer in the Elroy Community.

Mr. Worrell is survived by his sons, Kenneth Worrell and wife, Barbara, of Goldsboro, Bruce Worrell Jr. and wife, Ann, of Virginia, Billy Worrell of Georgia and John Worrell and wife, Lou, of Anaston, Ala.; his daughters, Joyce Smith and husband, Russell, of Goldsboro and Shirley F. Clark of Wilmington; his sisters, Dixie Barwick of Goldsboro, Naomi Grantham of Grantham and Geraldine Thomas of Surecta; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Hilda May Worrell; his brothers, Victor Worrell, Jimmie Worrell, Willie Worrell, Marvin Worrell, Paul Worrell and Wiley Worrell; and his sisters, Inez Ginn and Pauline Kearney.

The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home, 446 Powell Road, Goldsboro.
