MINNIE RUTH GURLEY

Minnie Ruth Gurley, 87, of 104 Tinderwood Place, died early this morning, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with her son, Arthur Gurley officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Gurley was born on Dec. 17, 1920 in Wayne County to the late William Ingram and Rosal Overman Ingram. She was a member of Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Gurley was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Robert Gurley, three sons, Robert Gurley, Edward Gurley and Richard Ervin Gurley; two grandchildren, Shantone Rene and Marlon Darden; one great-grandson, Kade Bumpous; three brothers, James Ingram, Chester "Babe" Ingram and Tom Ingram; and one sister, Lula Evans.

She is survived by five sons, Roy and Barbara Gurley of Pikeville, Shade and Judy Gurley of Charles City, Va., Raeford and Helen Gurley of Pikeville, Jimmy and Kathy Gurley of the home, and Arthur and Susan Gurley of Goldsboro; three daughters, Maggie and Devid Smith of Goldsboro, Rachel and Lynwood Litton of Mount Olive and Lelanette "Lynn" and Linnie Glance of Goldsboro; and a sister, Julia and Malcom Gurley of Goldsboro. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Ruth Gurley is the grandmother of Paul and Lester Meyers.
