Joyce Lucille Cain McDonald, 79, died at home Thursday.

The funeral will take place Sunday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Glenn Phillips presiding. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Lucille was born in Robeson County on Sept. 21, 1929, to the late Kirby Butler Cain and Ola Graham Cain.

She loved life and received much joy from her family, church and friends. She was very active in organizations including Goldsboro Women's Club, the Goldsboro Garden Club, and the Salvation Army Auxiliary. She enjoyed being a member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Virginia Henderson Class and had served as a deacon. She will also be remembered by many as an employee of Youth Togs.

Lucille is survived by her husband of 61 years, John C. McDonald; her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda M. Gaylor and Charles P. Gaylor III; her grandson Charles P. Gaylor IV of Raleigh; and her very dear friends, Emma Jean Kinsey and Millie Merritt.

She is also survived by her sister, Doris C. Barnes of Lumberton; and several nieces and nephews, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Floyd III of Lincoln, Neb., Mr. and Mrs. Scott Gregory of Hampton, Va., and Mrs. Pete Monteiro of Lumberton; cousins Billy Cain of China, Sam Cain of St. Pauls, Sybil Mueller of Fayetteville, and Martha Nettles of Elizabethtown and Michael Davis of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her special nieces, Mrs. Janice Floyd and Marilyn White.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the home of Rhonda and Charlie Gaylor, 310 W. Walnut St., Goldsboro, N.C.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 125 S. John St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530 or to a charity of one's choice.
